Hair loss can occur suddenly from the whole scalp and at times can be patterned in nature. Occurring irrespective of age and gender, the problem of hair loss can be distinguished as male and female patterned hair loss. We, at Pioneer hair care, treat both the above mentioned hair loss patterns with unique efficacy in several areas of Karnataka.
Difference in male and female pattern hair loss
Male pattern hair loss
Male pattern hair loss or baldness is the common type of thinning of the hair and balding that occurs in adult males. It is due to a blend of hormones (androgens) and a genetic predisposition, called androgenetic alopecia. It is characterised by a diminishing hairline and hair loss on the top and front of the head.
Female pattern hair loss
Female pattern baldness or hair loss is a form of diffuse hair loss that occurs in women with androgenetic alopecia. It results in thinning hair on the mid-frontal area of the scalp.
Causes of these different pattern hair loss
Female pattern hair loss (FPHL) has a genetic predisposition. The mode of inheritance is polygenic, indicating that there are many genes that contribute to hair loss patterns, and these genes could be inherited from either parent or both.
Male pattern hair loss is generally an inherited condition, caused by a genetically determined sensitivity to the effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in some areas of the scalp. DHT is believed to reduce the hair growth, or anagen, phase of the hair cycle, from a usual duration of 3–6 years to just weeks or months.
We, at Pioneer hair care, effectively treat both types of patterned hair loss in areas of Karnataka.
